Cocor luxury shopping center

Cocor is a newly built, luxury shopping center in Bucharest, Romania, offering brands such as Versace, Armani and Gucci. The building is covered with LED video displays, similar to Times Square, with one main display spanning roughly five stories tall from the top floor down the front of the building. There is also a two-story tall display located next to the main display on the top left of the building, and five double sided one-story tall displays jutting out from the West side of the building, one per floor spaced out horizontally along the side of the building. There is also a freeform LED display under the double sided displays used primarily for color washes, creating a total of 13 displays.

Keyframe created 18 separate pieces of content with some pieces incorporating all 13 displays, including logos for Cocor Channel, Cocor Luxury Store and Cocor Spa Hotel. Keyframe produced video content from a green screen video shoot set up specifically for the creation of Cocor content.

Andy Smith, Keyframe’s Art director on the project had this to say:
“It was fun and challenging to create concepts that worked well for the display system that they have on their building. It was also fun and interesting to work with people on an international level and learn about another country and city in the process. The solutions we came up with worked very well and the customer was pleased. Helping them to create their brand and identity through the logos and other animations we created was pretty rewarding.

“An interesting part of the project came when Keyframe shot green screen footage of models and construction workers to incorporate into the animations. It was a great experience. We set everything up, organized our shots and followed the script to make sure we got everything we needed. Seeing the final results of the video shoot mixed in with the animations was also a very rewarding feeling.”

On December 1st, 2008, Cocor’s 13 new displays went live with content provided by Keyframe as reporters from CNN and numerous newspapers, photographers and press people from all across Europe soaked it all in.

“All of the hard work and hours spent on this project really paid off when Cocor held the unveiling of Cocor Channel,” said Stef Manning, Keyframe’s Account Manager who spent weeks on site organizing content prior to the opening. “This was not only an amazing experience because of the project’s size and complexity, but also because of the cultural experiences from working in Bucharest.”
