Tampa Bay Rays

Keyframe worked with the Tampa Bay Rays to produce all in-game content including two team opens, headshots, crowd prompts and sponsor animations for the 2008 season.

The animated open, called the Solar Flare Opening animation, was based on the personification of a ray of light, that after being emitted from the sun takes a journey to Earth’s atmosphere. It bursts through a cloud that after being hit, morphs into the Rays logo. The ray of light then travels under water, morphing into a Devil Ray, representing the old logo for a brief moment. Then the ray of light returns to space to defend the Tampa Bay area from opposing teams whose logos are trying to eclipse the sunlight that represents a win for the home team.

“Keyframe has helped create a much more uniform look that has been noticed by all,” said Deb Belinsky, Executive Producer of the DCB Group, in charge of game-day entertainment for the Rays. “I think that Keyframe’s turnkey assistance from style creation and production through implementation with bringing someone on-site has been golden and a great help.”

“After going to a few of the games, seeing the full game-day presentation and the reactions of the fans to our elements on the displays, I feel that all the energy and time we put into this project was very rewarding,” said Melvin Nix, Digital Artist for Keyframe.
