For the fourth year, Keyframe has created the game opening video for South Dakota State University’s football team.

The video includes editing of photos and highlight clips, and with editing, timing is everything. Highlight clips were sorted and aligned appropriately with high energy highlights set to the faster musical segments and the slow moving stills set to the slower musical segments.

Keyframe’s Art Director on the project, Jordon Weideman employed a rising trend of combining washed out, almost black and white video and images with bright highlight colors that ‘pop’ off the screen. In this case, SDSU’s gold color serves as the highlight. This look gives the video more character and flare than a traditional highlight video.

The still images used in this open were taken to a different level to help them come alive by instilling 3D camera moves. Combining the camera moves with trimming and redrawing of backgrounds gives the still images a slight sense of motion similar to a smooth slow-motion playback.

Keyframe’s work was well received by the coaches, team and those working with SDSU to bring this project to life as noted by Micah Grenz, Assistant Athletic Director – Marketing and Promotions for SDSU:

“The open is great. We found an example of what we liked and aimed to create something similar. With the limited video we had, it’s amazing how close we came to the original product. Other schools like it as well, as they’ve seen what we have and then set out to imitate it. Imitation is the highest form of flattery.

“We’ve worked with Keyframe, specifically with Jordon Weideman, over the past couple of years. We’ve noticed that as our relationship grows, Jordon’s abilities and skills have also grown and he has done some great work for us.”

This open comes in the fourth year of a ten year contract with SDSU.
